Some of the most suitable oils useful in cystitis treatment are Bergamot, Chamomile, Lemon (perhaps only use 5 drops if this oil is chosen), and Sandalwood. A warm compress, with 3-5 drops of Chamomile or Lavender oils added, can be placed over the lower abdomen if there is a lot of discomfort.

Sign and symptoms of Cystitis can include frequent urging to pass water, accompanied generally by a sharp pain - in women this is usually felt in the urethra and there is inflammation also while men tend to experience pain in the penis.

Cystitis Treatment using homeopathy remedy

Symptoms of discomfort when passing urine are a feature of the remedy picture for a large number of homeopathic medicines, so the professional practitioner has a wide choice. For home treatment of Cystitis, choose initially from:

Cantharis: for the classical symptoms of cystitis, burning pains with passing water, which comes only slowly and also a frequent urge to urinate.

PULSATILLA: for a great urge, and urgency to urinate, causing some pains and distress. Urine may easily dribble out, when coughing or laughing.

STAPHYSAGRIA: when the vulvas area is sore or bruised - often given for "honeymoon cystitis".

Naturopathy: Natural cures for Cystitis

In the first place, as soon as you feel the twinges of cystitis coming on, drink plenty of water, or herb teas. Avoid alcohol, or strong tea and coffee, which can irritate the bladder lining further. Sometimes it can be helpful to add a pinch of bicarbonate of soda to water to make it alkaline.

Avoid obviously acidic foods such as vinegar, unripe fruit or ones like gooseberries, plums, rhubarb or tomatoes.

Many people tend to suffer periodically with cystitis and for recurrent problems, look at things such as not wearing tight jeans or trousers, avoid vaginal deodorants and be careful to rinse underwear thoroughly (biological washing powders or detergents can leave irritant traces).

If you have had antibiotics, it is very helpful to take plenty of live yogurt afterwards to repopulate the defensive gut bacteria; a little can also be applied to the vaginal and urethral openings for local effect, especially if you are prone to cystitis. This helps to alter the local acidity, which encourages the body's natural defenses to multiply, and it is also quite cool and soothing to the irritated and inflamed surface.
